From the original Ask a Philosopher! page:
“Ask a Philosopher was launched in 1999 on the University of Sheffield web site. Since then, we have responded to thousands of questions submitted from all over the world. In 2006 Ask a Philosopher moved to commercial web hosting at philosophypathways.com. “This service is offered courtesy of Pathways to Philosophy, the independent distance learning project run by the International Society for Philosophers.” |
The Ask a Philosopher at WordPress page was launched in July 2011, in response to numerous requests to speed up our service.
The last page of Questions and Answers (page 49, 2nd series) was over 113,000 words and covered submissions received over a period of 4 months.
We are now able to post answers much more promptly — usually only a week or two after they are received. Constructive comments are always welcome. If you have any ideas for developing our service further — or would like to join the Ask a Philosopher panel — please email me at klempner@fastmail.net.
I look forward to hearing from you!

great idea, but why is the illustration depicting a male figure? that seems quite unnecessarily male-biassed to me and makes the whole page less credible
The illustration is not just a ‘male figure’ but an actual philosopher — Max Stirner, author of ‘Der Einzige und sein Eigentum’, despised by Karl Marx but celebrated by Anarchists. Tell me which female philosopher you would like to see?
Sta ik even van te kijken.
